Walking
One
of the greatest assets of Kintyre and Argyll is the access
and amount of walks available to the public from actual documented
and official walks through the forestry and along the coasts
but also small 'unofficial' walks that enable to you experience
the rich diversity of the land and its views.
Walking
can be accomplished by occasional walkers, experienced hikers
and ramblers or by families with children of all ages from
the short walks along the sea front at Tarbert perhaps to the
Columba Hotel for lunch, or up passed Tarbert's Royal Castle
carrying on for 6 or 7 miles to Skipness, or only a short drive
up to Lochgilphead and walk alongside the Crinan Canal up to
the Cairnbaan Hotel where you can have a spot of lunch as you
watch the boats go by.
Kintyre
is jam packed with walks up to view points, through nature
reserves and protected woodland, along stunning sandy coastlines
and just before Campeltown the high sand dunes and high waves
of Westport signify the great surfing waters here.
Why
not pop into the Tourist Information Centre in Tarbert and
get some more information on the walks available. There is
something for everybody. For more information why not visit
the walking web sites under the woodland
and walks section. |
