West
Loch Shores Wildlife > Shore Wildlife
Often
it is possible to sit and watch a solitary heron balancing
on the private shoreland of West Loch Shores Tarbert as it
waits for its meal to swim by.
As
the tide drifts slowly away into the distance, rocks become
uncovered leaving small pools of salt water where young crabs
scuttle away from the shadows that approach above.
Dragonflies
can be seen sometimes buzzing from here to there, hovering
without intent casting a small shadow from the sun through
the clear blue sky above.
Muscles
and a whole manner of crustaceans and shelled creatures attach
themselves to the rocks with many visitor trying hard to prize
them from their unbeatable grip on the geology.
Further
along the coastline, during spring and summer you can watch
seals lazing on the rocks that protrude from the surface of
the water. Sometimes these curious creatures will swim from
the rock close to the shore.
If
you are fortunate perhaps to have a small boat, or able to
go on a cruise you may see some larger sea life such as minke
whales, basking sharks or dolphins. It is not uncommon to see
many of these creatures in and around the coast of Kintye and
the islands, sometimes a single seal can be seen swimming around
Tarbert's harbour.
For
those that are interested in wildlife the woodland and the
shores are heavily populated with many different species of
wildlife for you to study, or catch glimpses of, no matter
where you are at the West Loch Shores the beautiful landscapes,
unpolluted air and flirtatious wildlife are nearby. |
