Argyll
is renowned for its tranquility and beauty which extends fully
onto the fantastic golf courses dotted throughout. The tranquility
means that you can enjoy peace and quiet on golf courses
that don't make you wait for an age at each hole to tee
off !
West
Loch Shores Tarbert has a 9 hole golf course situated only
1 mile along the road. This 9 hole golf course takes you up
into the woodland and overlooks the wonderful West Loch Tarbert
and West Loch Shores. The course on the whole is not too tricky
for beginners as it doesn't have any bunkers, but there are
3 holes where you must cross a shallow burn ! At only £10.00
per day, and there are clubs available, you could play all
day !
From
the West Loch Shores you can either head north and play golf
courses in Lochgilphead or Inveraray or head south or west
to Carradale or for a true links challenge at either Dunaverty
or Machrihanish.
Dunaverty
(otherwise known as South End) is a tricky 18 hole links course
where winds can challenge even the best golfers. The greens
and fairways are well maintained and free from excess water
most of the year.
Machrihanish
is a world class 18 hole links golf course only 45 minutes
from West Loch Shores Tarbert which has a pro shop and excellent
facilities to boot. This course is listed in the Golfer's Digest
top 100 golf courses in the world outside of the United States
of America, and also reputed to have one of the very best opening
holes of golf in the world.
For
a variety of golfing experience from a tranquil and idyllic
setting, look no further than the self-catering lodges at West
Loch Shores Tarbert or West Loch Shores Brenfield. |
