There are more than 350 ancient monuments within a six-mile
radius of the village of Kilmartin, Argyll: 150 of them
are prehistoric. This extraordinary concentration and diversity
of monuments distinguishes the Kilmartin valley as an area
of outstanding archaeological importance.
Kilmartin House is a world-class centre for archaeology
and landscape interpretation which combines a Museum of
Ancient Culture and a unique and vibrant visitor centre
including intense audio-visual experience "The Valley
of Ghosts".
Tayvallich
Once you have finished at Kilmartin then a short
journey on back roads across the Crinan Canal will bring
you to
the beautiful fishing village of Tayvallich and
beyond along Loch Sween to sample the splendid isolation
of the
Chapel of the Keill at Keillmore.
