The Kyles Of Bute

The peninsula to the South of Kintyre is Cowal and has a remarkable selection of landscapes, mountains, waterscapes (the Kyles of Bute observed from Cowal is a must see), history and walking.

The best way of getting to and from Cowal is by taking the ferry from Tarbert to Portavadie (see day 1) then following your nose either going north along Loch Fyne or exploring further inland across the hills to Dunoon via Tighnabruaich.
